When you're driving at night in Landover, it can be hard to see where you're going. It can be even more challenging when bright lights shine into your eyes. To address this issue, companies have incorporated auto-dimming rearview mirrors into some of their models. Several of the vehicles at IAD Auto have this useful feature.
These mirrors have hidden elements that allow them to help you. They have sensors that can detect bright lights, and when they do, those sensors send out an electrical signal. This signal is picked up by the electrochromic gel that's embedded between the mirror's two layers of glass. The electrical signal causes a chemical reaction which results in the gel turning darker.
With darkened gel in the mirror, less light can bounce off the glass and reflect into your eyes. You'll have an easier time seeing what's ahead of you, while still being able to see what's behind you.
